Though I can probably guess no one is reading these, I'll post this anyway.
I've decided to use Robert Downey Jr. as the "main" character to the Risk poster. He wasn't the first choice, though. My initial plan was to go with Dominic West as the main character. Then it went to Dominic Purcell, then to Wentworth Miller, and then Jason Statham. A few others came up, though all these were discarded since I couldn't find any decent shots of their faces in the position I wanted them in.
I did find a few decent photos of Statham to use, but I thought of his filmography, and how his overall personality just didn't fit what I was looking for. Plus, he looks just too-damn tough with no heart in his eyes (to me, at least). I started thinking about who looked tough with a menacing look, yet could pass as a likable guy, considering his filmography. He also had to be older than 35. No pretty boys, either. I thought about Gerard Butler, but couldn't find any decent shots. I finally arrived at Downey Jr. when I thought about how he looked in "Iron Man." It worked. I found a very suitable facial expression from him in one of the posters for "Iron Man 2" (which is very recent; perfect), and now he's the guy.
I'm not including Stanley Tucci or Laz Alonzo into the poster, simply because of the way the layout turned out. There just isn't room for them without disrupting the flow of images. It'll also make the poster look waaay too crowded with people. So, the final faces to show in the poster will be (though I'm NOT trying to be stereotypical of anyone from any continent, considering the different countries; this just makes it easier to identify):
--Robert Downey Jr. (main North American/United States character)
--Samantha Morton (main European/British character)
--Hugh Jackman (main Australian character)
--Javier Bardem (main South America/Brazil character)
--Ken Watanabe (main Asian/Japanese character)
As of now, I'm still working on the backgrounds depicted. It isn't easy to find what I'm looking for, considering the overall mood of the poster: dark, yet on a massive, epic scale with a little adventure thrown in, yet keeping it very realistic, and very serious. I don't want the poster to have an "Indiana Jones" vibe to it, but I also don't want it to feel like "The Road." Not too adventurous, but not extremely serious.
A teaser poster for Downey Jr.'s character is available in my gallery. This is, essentially, what he'll look like in the final poster. The "RISK" title treatment, however, might undergo a few changes.
